Europe 2013 by the Numbers

I’m a bit of a numbers guy, always have been, and in New Zealand last year I made a point of keeping track of lots of different statistics and presenting them in my New Zealand by the Numbers post, which proved to be very popular.

Without further ado, I present you with the statistics for my Europe trip.

This is amazing, Erik! I can’t be bothered to keep notes about anything (which makes blogging after the fact a little difficult!). Good stuff! That’s a lot of time on trains! Also, I love that you spent more on toilets than internet access 🙂

    • Erik says:

Thanks! I’ve always been a bit of a stat geek, and I had so much fun doing them in New Zealand last year that I made sure to keep up with them while on this trip. Compiling and publishing this post makes it worthwhile to have to keep up with the stats twice a day 🙂

  2. 98 Beers! Now that’s an over/under I should have attempted!

  3. I’m so jealous that some people manage to be so organized to keep track of this kind of details. I love stats like this, but can’t seem to keep up with keeping track after the first 2 days or so.

    • Erik says:

It really takes concentration to keep the numbers I will give you that, but I enjoy them so much, that I really never get more than a day behind. Beer stats are easier, I just take pictures of every bottle or every menu. I can always record those later.

  4. I love your beer count (not the breaking them though) I am trying to keep track of various things on our trip too, inspired by you 🙂

    Awesome post, my friend!

  5. Maria says:

Great stats on things I’ve never considered like, toilets and beers. Nicely done.

    • Erik says:

People seem to love the statistics, glad I found some you liked, too 🙂 The beer one was fun to keep track of. The amount of money spent on toilets… not so much 🙂

Goodness….what a lot of numbers!!! Bedbugs???? BEDBUGS??????????????? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
For some reason I’ve not being getting email subscriptions of your posts so I’ve a lot to catch up on.xxxx

    • Erik says:

You haven’t missed that much- I only posted on the blog three times while I was out on the road, preferring to update my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram while actively travelling.

And, yeah, the bedbug bites sucked and took over 2 weeks to heal completely…

    Four beers broken! Nooooo!
