Photo Essay- Exterior Rijksmuseum Artwork

One of the first things I did on my first day walk of Amsterdam was to walk down Museumplein to the Rijksmuseum. The building, designed by Dutch architect Pierre Cuypers, is the National Art Museum of the Netherlands. It was built between 1876-1885 in a combination of both gothic and renaissance styles. It had only been re-opened for a little over a week when I was there, and instead of visiting the vast collection inside, I elected to take pictures of the many fine artistic elements on the exterior of the building.
