Photo Essay- Speight’s Brewery Tour, Dunedin

I attended the Speight’s Brewery Tour in Dunedin on the evening of my fourth day in New Zealand. The tour was interesting and entertaining, and well worth the price of admission ($23 NZD).

Speight’s is a mass produced beer (according to them the most popular and widely consumed beer in New Zealand). Being honest, I wasn’t a real big fan of anything I tried, but that probably has more to do with me being a beer snob and them not having a beer in any of the styles I liked. I did enjoy their hard cider.

  1. I lived in Dunedin for a year, and somehow never made it to do a tour (and somehow also managed to drink a fair amount of Speights at Rugby games….) luckily we’re headed back down to dunners at the end of the year, so it’s on my list to do, if we have time!

I love the shot that shows it on the hill – the name of which is escaping me at the moment.

Great Tour– loved that it was at night, too. That allowed me to do regular sightseeing during the day, and this at night.

It was certainly an  interesting tour. I need to do a tour of some of the smaller breweries, too.

We thought about doing this tour, but since we went to a small local brewery in Wanaka a couple days earlier, we decided to skip this one. Looks like it was interesting though!

  5. WE passed this brewery a couple of times when we were there but didn't take the tour – looks like a good one!
