Stations of the Cross Photo Essay

For Good Friday, I thought I would do a photo essay on the Stations of the Cross in Jerusalem. These photographs were all taken by me during my visit in May of 2010.

Station One- Jesus is sentenced to death

Inside the Church of the Flagellation

Station Two- Jesus is given his cross.

Station Three- Jesus falls for the first time.
Station Four- Jesus sees his mother.
Chapel at Station Four

Station Five- Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry his cross

Reported to be Jesus’ handprint at Station Five

Station Six- Veronica wipes the face of Jesus

Station Seven- Jesus falls for the second time

Station Eight- Jesus meets the daughters of Jerusalem

Station Nine- Jesus falls for the third time

Station 10- Jesus is stripped of his garments

Station Eleven- Jesus is nailed to the cross

Station Twelve- Jesus dies on the cross.

Station Thirteen- Jesus’ body is removed from the cross.

Station Fourteen- Jesus is buried.

The Dome inside The Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

The long lines to visit the inside of the Holy Sepulchre

I visited the inside of the Tomb at 5:30 A.M. one morning. It was the only one of my five visits where the line to get in was less than an hour.
